Paris is a food lover’s paradise, but finding the right place to eat can be a challenge, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the city. After extensive research and numerous trips, we’ve put together a list of our favorite dining spots near the historic Place des Vosges. These restaurants offer a variety of cuisines and experiences, from quick and cheap eats to special occasion dining.

L’As du Fallafel: The Best Falafel in Europe

If you’re looking for a quick, affordable, and delicious meal in Paris, head straight to L’As du Fallafel. This popular eatery is known for its exceptional falafel, which even the renowned New York Times food writer, Mark Bittman, considers the best in Europe.

The most popular item on the menu is the Fallafel Spécial, a generously filled pita sandwich that’s as messy as it is tasty. Don’t let the crowds deter you – the wait is well worth it. If you’re short on time, take advantage of the convenient “to go” window near the entrance. For those who prefer to sit and enjoy their meal, squeeze inside and grab a table, but be prepared for the no-nonsense servers who keep things moving.

You’ll find L’As du Fallafel at 34, rue des Rosiers, just a 10-minute walk from Place des Vosges or 13 minutes from Notre Dame. Look for the green storefront and the crowd gathered outside. Alternatively, take the Métro to St. Paul for easy access. Keep in mind that L’As du Fallafel is closed on Saturdays.

Bistrot L’Oulette: A Cozy Bistro with Southwest French Influences

Formerly known as Baracane, Bistrot L’Oulette is a charming, intimate bistro that keeps us coming back time and time again. The menu changes with the seasons and features dishes inspired by the cuisine of southwest France, such as the hearty cassoulet, a dish not commonly found in Parisian restaurants.

Another standout dish is the Confit de Canard, a classic French preparation of duck leg. The fixed menu offers great value, and the wine list is well-curated. The staff is always happy to help you select the perfect pairing for your meal.

The cozy atmosphere of L’Oulette means you may find yourself rubbing elbows with fellow diners, which can lead to memorable encounters. While reservations aren’t required, they’re highly recommended due to the restaurant’s popularity. You’ll find Bistrot L’Oulette just a stone’s throw from Place des Vosges at 38 Rue des Tournelles. Note that they’re closed on Saturdays for lunch and all day on Sundays.

Les Fous d’en Face: Simple, Friendly, and Affordable

For a casual lunch or dinner, head to Les Fous d’en Face. This unpretentious restaurant consistently delivers friendly service, satisfying meals, and reasonably priced wine. The menu focuses on simply prepared dishes, such as the pork cutlet with mustard, warm goat cheese with croutons and salad, Magret du Canard, and the winter favorite, pot au feu.

During the warmer months, take advantage of the shady terrace, perfect for a light lunch. Les Fous d’en Face is conveniently located at 3 Rue du Bourg Tibourg, just a 3-minute walk from l’Hôtel de Ville.

Le Réminet: A Splurge-Worthy Dining Experience

For a truly special meal in an intimate setting, treat yourself to Le Réminet. The menu leans more towards modern French fusion than traditional cuisine, and while dining here may be a splurge, the superb food, artful presentation, and excellent service make it well worth the expense.

The accommodating staff is known for seating customers who miss their reservations or arrive without one, but it’s still highly recommended to make a reservation and stick to it. The restaurant even offers a convenient online reservation system – just be sure to print out your confirmation and double-check your reserved time.

Le Réminet is located a bit farther from Place des Vosges than the other recommendations on this list (about a 20-minute walk). You’ll find it in the 5th Arrondissement at 3 Rue des Grands Degrés, just across the river from Notre-Dame on the Left Bank. The nearest Métro station is Maubert – Mutualité.

Amorino: Delightful Italian-Style Gelato

No meal in Paris is complete without a sweet treat, and Amorino is our go-to spot for delicious Italian-style gelato. When you arrive at the counter, place your order for the size of your cup or cone and pay at the register. Then, proceed down the line with your receipt and choose your favorite flavors.

While Amorino’s gelato is delicious in both cone and cup form, we recommend opting for the cup, as it offers better value for your money. Regardless of your choice, you’re sure to be satisfied with the quality and taste of their gelato.

Amorino has several locations throughout Paris. Near Place des Vosges, you’ll find them at 1 rue des Francs Bourgeois. There’s also a location around the corner from L’As du Fallafel at 31 Rue Vieille du Temple, and another on Île Saint-Louis, just across the river from Le Réminet, at 47 Rue Saint-Louis en l’Île.

With these dining recommendations in hand, you’re sure to have a memorable and delicious experience exploring the culinary offerings near Place des Vosges. Bon appétit!
