Cadaqués, a charming coastal village, is renowned for its fresh seafood. During a short visit, we tried meals at a few places and found three establishments that stood out for their menu or ambiance.

Restaurante Casa Nun

Located at Plaça des Portitxó, 6, just past ‘restaurant row’ on the waterfront and hidden behind the big olive tree, Restaurante Casa Nun is our favorite spot for lunch in Cadaqués. We enjoyed it so much that we went back for more.

Delicious Dishes and Friendly Atmosphere

On our first day, we shared a table on the terrace with a friendly couple from France who recommended several items on the menu. We were delighted with everything we ordered:

  • Grilled baby calamari (fresh, tender, and lightly grilled) and anchovy served with steamed vegetables
  • Iberian ham paired perfectly with small but tasty olives
  • Crusty, fresh bread and refreshing sangria

The sangria was even better on our second visit, when we enjoyed a well-prepared, flavorful plate of grilled chicken and vegetables, served with generous slices of bread and friendly smiles.

Reasonable Prices and Generous Portions

Although not the cheapest place for a meal in Cadaqués, Restaurante Casa Nun offers reasonable prices for a light lunch, with generous portions suitable for sharing.

Casa Anita

Dining at Casa Anita, located at Calle Miquel Roset, 16, was an unexpected experience. While we don’t necessarily recommend them for their food (which was good), we highly recommend them for their unique ambiance.

Unique Dining Experience

Casa Anita offers a fun, laid-back, and friendly atmosphere. The owner makes his way around the room, asking each guest their wine preference and opening a bottle for each table. He then recites the list of dishes the chef is preparing, as there is no written menu – “it’s all in his head,” he says.

The owner will ask about your preferences: meat or fish, vegetables in a salad, sauces or cheese. He claims that only his place serves some dishes prepared the way they do, and he may be right.

Tasty Dishes and Communal Dining

Some of the dishes we enjoyed at Casa Anita include:

  • Pa amb Tomaquet: traditional appetizer of toasted bread brushed with tomato, topped with anchovies and cheese
  • Char-grilled skirt steak topped with a bit of manchego cheese
  • Grilled ‘prawns a la plancha’ served on a sizzling platter
  • Mascarpone ice cream topped with Cointreau and sweet figs for dessert

Casa Anita has limited space, and the large tables create a communal dining experience (up to 10 people per table), so be prepared to meet your fellow diners. Reservations are recommended.

Late Night Bar

Right next door to Casa Anita is ‘Anita Nit,’ their late-night bar.

Es Fornet Pastisseria

Es Fornet, located at Miquel Rosset #2, is a popular bakery and coffee shop serving delicious pastries and regional specialties.

Must-Try Pastry: Coca Vidre Ametllas

One of their standout items is the coca vidre ametllas, a big, flat, crispy, and sugary sweet pastry topped with nuts (almonds or pine nuts). We particularly enjoyed the ones with almonds, which pair perfectly with a cup of café con leche.

Opening Hours

Es Fornet is not open too late, but it’s a good place to stop for dessert after an early dinner or for something sweet any time of day.

Where to Stay: Hotel Nou Estrelles

For accommodations in Cadaqués, we recommend Hotel Nou Estrelles, located at Calle Horta Vella on the far western edge of the Old Town, within easy walking distance of the main sites.
