Where to eat in Amsterdam near het Leidseplein

There are many cafes and restaurants in the area around het Leidseplein. We’ve picked a few that we like based on quality and value for the money.

Greenwoods Tea Room Amsterdam

Greenwoods English Tea Room & Restaurant – Serves breakfast, lunch, high tea, and dinner.  We stopped in for lunch and had the steak sandwich with garlic butter and fries (the special that day) and the lamb burger with blue cheese, bacon, and caramelized onions.  Both were good, but the service was a bit slow and prices are a little higher.  Greenwoods is located at Keizersgracht, 465.

Cora Delicatessen Amsterdam

Cora Delicatessen & Broodjes – A fabulous little neighborhood deli serving home-made soups and fresh made to order sandwiches with a nice selection of fillings and your choice of three kinds of bread.

We really enjoyed the goat cheese with fig jam and rucola on a whole grain baguette

and the pecorino, chorizo with mesclun greens and sundried cherry tomatoes on a plain baguette. Their menu makes for perfect picnic food. Cora is a ‘take out’ deli and the only seating available is a bench outside offering a view of the canal at Prinsengracht 705a.
