If you’re familiar with the comic strips Asterix, Tintin, Lucky Luke, or the Smurfs, you might want to visit MOOF. This ‘Museum of Original Figurines’ is dedicated to the 3-D art of comic strips and features a unique collection of collectible cartoon figurines.
MOOF’s collection contains a few original comic strips and some early animation equipment, but it’s the over 1000 figurines that most people come to see.
The displays feature cute Smurf villages,
scenes from Tintin,
Lucky Luke,
Asterix,
Suske & Wiske, and other popular Franco-Belgian comic strips. Several information boards give the ins and outs of how comic strips and animated films were created from concept to storyboard, character design, and final digital composition.
You’ll also see the story of Raymond Leblanc, comic book publisher and founder of Belvision Studios the producers of animated cartoons.
Some of the figurines on display, several of which are limited editions, include:
Ansea Latal, from The Scorpion series by Enrico Marini and Stephen Desberg
Capitaine Rochnan from The Scorpion series by Enrico Marini and Stephen Desberg
Spirou by Tome and Janry
Gaston et son chat from the series by Andre Franquin
Camilla & Drago from the series Rapaces by Enrico Marini and Jean Dufaux
Blacksad from the comic album series by Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido
la Porsche de Ric Hochet sculpted by Michel Aroutcheff & Dominique Mufraggi
